Applied to your marks

Official Steps

  1. 1

    Entrance Score Scaling to 300

The entrance paper is out of 600 marks and is scaled to an index of 300 marks (50% weightage).

    Scaled Entrance = (Entrance Score / 600) * 300

    Example: 400 / 600 * 300 = 200.00

  2. 2

Board Subject Scaling to 300 (5:3:2 Ratio)

The three Class 12 subjects are NOT blended. They are scaled separately in the mandatory 5:3:2 ratio: Mathematics out of 150, Physics out of 90, Chemistry out of 60.

    Scaled Board = (Maths % / 100) * 150 + (Physics % / 100) * 90 + (Chemistry % / 100) * 60

    Example: Maths 92% -> 138.00, Physics 88% -> 79.20, Chemistry 90% -> 54.00 (total 271.20)

  3. 3

    Combined KEAM Engineering Index

Add both 300-point components to obtain your total index mark out of 600.

    Total Index = 200.00 + 271.20 = 471.20 / 600

    Example: 471.20 / 600

Official Tie-Breaking Order

  1. Higher standardized marks in Mathematics in qualifying examination
  2. Higher standardized marks in Physics in qualifying examination
  3. Higher standardized marks in Chemistry in qualifying examination
  4. Candidate older in age

What this cutoff score means

The number this calculator produces is your merit or cutoff score, measured out of 600. Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) does not publish a rank directly from your marks; it converts your marks into this single normalised score and then ranks every eligible candidate against it.

During counselling, your score is compared against the closing cutoff of each course and college. If your score is at or above the closing score for a course in your preferred college list, you become eligible to be offered that seat in that round. Cutoffs move every year because candidate volume, exam difficulty and the reservation seat matrix all change, so treat this number as an estimate of your position — not a guaranteed admission.

The score alone is not enough. Your reservation category, your domicile, the quota you are eligible for (such as management, minority, or government quota), and the number of seats available in that course all feed into the final allotment. If two candidates land on the same score, the tie-breaking order published by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) decides who is placed higher.

Because this rule is not a single exam score, it combines 4 separate inputs. Enter each value exactly as printed on your own marksheet — the official formula only works on the same scale the authority used.

What you need to enter

Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) builds this cutoff from the following values. Take the numbers from your own Class 12 marksheet or entrance scorecard — do not round or estimate them.

Formula & step-by-step breakdown

Governing equation

KEAM Index = Entrance Scaled (300) + Board Scaled (300), where Board Scaled = Maths (150) + Physics (90) + Chemistry (60)

Final merit score: 600 marks (/ 600). This is the exact rule published by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) for 2025-2026 admissions.

Printed notation

Index (out of 600) = (KEAM Score / 600) * 300 + (Maths % / 100) * 150 + (Physics % / 100) * 90 + (Chemistry % / 100) * 60

Exactly as written in the official admission brochure. Shown as plain text for clarity.

Step-by-step calculation

Work through these 3 steps in order and you will arrive at the same score this page calculates for you. Each step is the published rule, not an approximation.

Official rules & eligibility

These are the conditions published by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE). A strong cutoff score does not help if you fail any of them.

Official ranking method adopted by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala.

Equal weightage of 50:50 is given to the marks obtained in the Entrance Examination and the marks obtained for Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in the qualifying examination.

Board marks undergo statistical standardization across state and national boards.

Class 12 marks enter the index in the fixed 5:3:2 ratio: Mathematics 150, Physics 90 and Chemistry 60, for 300 marks in total.

The Engineering Entrance Examination is out of 600 marks (Mathematics 300, Physics 180, Chemistry 120) and a minimum normalised score of 10 is required to be eligible for ranking.

Tie-breaking order

When two or more applicants land on exactly the same cutoff score, Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) resolves the rank position using the following hierarchy, in order:

  1. 1. Higher standardized marks in Mathematics in qualifying examination
  2. 2. Higher standardized marks in Physics in qualifying examination
  3. 3. Higher standardized marks in Chemistry in qualifying examination
  4. 4. Candidate older in age

Your final rank also depends on your reservation category, domicile and the seats available in the round. Two candidates with identical scores and identical subject marks can still finish in different positions because a reserved candidate is ranked within the reserved list for that course.

KEAM Index questions answered

The questions students ask most about this specific admission rule.

What is the minimum qualification mark in KEAM entrance?

Candidates must score a minimum of 10 marks in each paper of the entrance examination (relaxation applies to SC/ST candidates). This calculator uses the official 10-mark minimum.

How is the Class 12 board component calculated?

Not from a single blended percentage. CEE Kerala scales your three Class 12 subjects in a fixed 5:3:2 ratio — Mathematics out of 150, Physics out of 90 and Chemistry out of 60, for 300 marks in total. That is why this calculator asks for the three subjects separately instead of one PCM percentage.

How KEAM Index compares to other entrance exams

Cutoff scores are not comparable across exams because each authority normalises differently. What you can compare is the structure of each rule: the maximum score, how many inputs it takes, and how the components are weighted.

What to do after you get your cutoff

  1. 1. Compare against last year's closing cutoff

Find the closing score for each of your preferred colleges and branches for 2025-2026, then check whether your score clears it. Closing cutoffs, not opening cutoffs, are the realistic benchmark.

  2. 2. Register for counselling on the official portal

Only Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) can allot you a seat. Complete the counselling registration on the official website, keep the application number safe, and pay the counselling fee within the published deadline.

  3. 3. Get your certificates ready early

Community, nativity, income and disability certificates take weeks. Apply through your school or the taluk office as soon as the certificate window opens, because you cannot choose a preferred college without them.

  4. 4. Build a wide preference list

Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) usually allots in rounds. A long, realistic preference list of colleges and branches protects you if your first choice is filled in an earlier round.

  5. 5. Keep a second option in a nearby state

Cutoff scores move every year, so keep a realistic backup course or college ready rather than betting on one target score.

  6. 6. Save or print your score summary

To keep a clean record of your calculated cutoff score and input values, use your browser's print command (Ctrl + P or Cmd + P) to save as PDF or print. The print layout cleanly preserves the final score, component breakdown, and formula walkthrough while leaving out interactive controls.
